The 36th annual cowboy downhill stampede was a success this year and finished as the snow began to fall. The cowboy downhill is comprised of 2 races. ‘The first, participants race through a dual slalom course on skis or a snowboard, hit a jump, lasso a Steamboat Ambassador and saddle a horse before crossing the finish line. The second is an all-out, every-man-for-himself race to the bottom of Stampede…The Cowboy Downhill began 36 years ago when Billy Kidd and Larry Mahan, a six-time All-Around World Champion cowboy, decided to put a few pro rodeo stars on skis.’

With some crazy falls, awesome cowboy garb and lots of yelling and screaming, the atmosphere was awesome. The base area was packed with people making it difficult to move, but fun to be a part of. With the concert beginning as the snow began to fall, it added to the atmosphere, livening everyone up just a bit more. Reckless Kelly played a great show, bringing the crowd together and getting everyone excited, concluding a great Tuesday night! Hope to see everyone just as excited for the upcoming Winter Carnival in Steamboat!
