Steamboat Springs Festivals
While activities are always occurring in Steamboat, many weekends throughout the summer, fall and winter have special themes. These weekends are a great time to not only visit the town, but also provide events to guide you through your stay.
Fourth of July Weekend Celebration – For over 100 years Steamboat has celebrated Independence Day with rodeo. Cowboys Roundup Days celebrates the Western Heritage native to the Yampa Valley with events for the entire family. Kick back in your boots at several community events including, a community all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast, children’s activities, concerts, the annual parade down Lincoln Avenue rodeo, and fireworks. This fun filled weekend also includes a real cattle drive where local ranchers will drive 100 pair of cattle from their ranch down Lincoln Avenue to Romick Arena. These cattle will then play a part in the Ranch Horse Competition and Ranch Rodeo where local ranches will compete against one another.
30th Annual Hot Air Balloon Rodeo & 36th Annual Art in the Park – Join us in Steamboat for one of the most anticipated and colorful weekends of the summer. The 30th Annual Hot Air Balloon Rodeo combined with the 36th Annual Art in the Park has become a staple of Steamboat in the Summertime. On Saturday, start your day at Bald Eagle Lake for a spectacular early-morning affair as you watch over 40 hot air balloons rising softly from the mist and drifting over the breathtaking Yampa Valley. After-wards make your way over to West Lincoln Park for Steamboat’s biggest arts and crafts festival. Art in the Park takes place on Saturday from 9-5 P.M. and on Sunday 9-4 P.M. Mark your calendars because this weekend is an absolute favorite for the entire family!
7th Annual Steamboat Wine Festival – A multi-day event in August, the Steamboat Springs Wine festival is a great event for wine enthusiasts and amatures alike. With events starting as early as 7:30 am and continuing through 11:00 pm, you can enjoy wine throughout the day in different settings. The events take place across town as you enjoy fly-fishing the Yampa River in the morning, enjoy tasting on the mountain as you watch the sun set over the Valley, and finish off your evening touring the restaurants downtown. And that’s just day one! Enjoy this festival with your family and friends or come to Steamboat and enjoy wine and meet some of Steamboats friendly locals!
Rocky Mountain Mustang Roundup – For owners, car enthusiasts or those just interested in looking around, the Mustang Roundup is the weekend for you to stop through Steamboat. With more than 400 Mustangs in town, the events are all crowded. With two main events, the ‘shine and show’ and a timed circuit, you are able to see not only the cars polished in lined up, but also in action!
Steamboat All Arts Festival – The Steamboat All Arts Festival is the newest and most collaborative event in Steamboat Springs, CO. It is a spectacular four-day event that highlights the unique arts and culture of the Yampa Valley while featuring nationally-renowned artists. The Steamboat All Arts Festival incorporates multiple art arenas including dance, vocal, musical, visual, literary and culinary arts. Experiential and educational workshops will be available all weekend and open to all levels.
Labor Day Weekend & 6th Annual Wild West Air Fest – Labor Day Weekend in Steamboat Springs is once again home to the Wild West Air Fest. A weekend full of entertainment in the air, on the mountain and all over town! It is a Labor Day celebration for the whole family featuring vintage and warbird airplanes, remote controlled aircraft, hang gliders, para-gliders, airplane rides and displays and classic cars at the Steamboat Springs Airport in Steamboat Springs. Wristbands can be purchased at the Steamboat Springs Visitor Center and the Steamboat Springs Airport. Buy your admission once and you will have unlimited access to the airport all weekend!
Steamboat Springs OktoberWest – New in 2009, this festival combines Germany’s Oktoberfest with a Western feel. Featuring events such as a bucking bull riding and a keg roping competition, this event centralizes around rocky mountain brewed beer in frosty beer steins. So take a weekend and enjoy the waning summer atmosphere with one last horrah, and embrace the approaching fall in a unique German/Western way.
