Unexpected Visitors

October 22, 2009

I got this photo from one of my neighbors yesterday. It appears as though these three moose wandered into their backyard to enjoy a light snack on the flowers and brush. Earlier this summer I was out on my bike riding down the Yampa Core Trail and coming around a corner I almost hit a [...]

October 16, 2009

The hypotheses about the winter snowfall have begun. This year is an El Nino year, further fueling the speculation as to how this will affect the snow-fall on the mountain. After-work Relaxation

October 15, 2009

Went for a short run on the Yampa River Core Trail after work today. The day was a bit overcast, but this did not deter the many people I saw out walking, running or even fly-fishing along the Core Trail. As I jogged along I noticed these fishermen, each separated by the bends in the [...]

Evening Run up Howelsen Hill

October 7, 2009

Enjoying the comradery of the local running group, I spent tonight pushing up the  single-track in the meadows at Howelsen Hill. The cyclical weather continues in Steamboat, today featuring temperatures in the 60′s. Warm enough to go back to the summer dress style of just a t-shirt and shorts. Stopping mid-way up to re-gather the [...]

Snow is Blowing In

October 6, 2009

Mid-afternoon yesterday, word came to take a look outside.  With a quick glance, and then a long stare, I saw little, visibility was limited. Nickel-sized flakes were blowing down hard. Quite exciting! Continuing on and off through the night I was hoping for the best. Waking up this morning and peaking my head out the [...]

Stopped by Slopeside tonight to enjoy their great happy hour specials. Tubing the Yampa

August 10, 2009

Nothing is quite as relaxing as jumping in a tube and just relaxing as you float slowly down the Yampa. Watching Mt. Werner fade away in the distance as you approach downtown, floating down the river is the best thing for a hot day. While the river was flowing hard through the beginning of the [...]
