Steamboat’s Biking is beginning to attract attention on a broader scale. Denver Magazine, just released an article in their latest issue that follows the authors journey on the 26 mile ride along the Continental Divide trail. Citing the fantastic community involvement behind biking in Steamboat, he cites Steamboat Springs as one of the best places to ride in Colorado.  One of the more notable paragraphs we found in the article was the authors thoughts on kids riding abilities in Steamboat.

That was until a group of preteens from the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club began passing me on the trail. While the club’s primary focus in the winter is on snow sports development and competition, in summer they ditch their skis and boards, hop on their pint-size mountain bikes and find a gear I didn’t even know existed. In less than 10 years the summer biking program has managed to attract nearly 100 kids into the after-school program. No wonder these kids were so good. They were also all so polite that it was impossible for me to get frustrated by the fact that they were eclipsing me up the trail. Besides, I thought at the time, I might need one of them to give me trail directions later on.

The bike guide to Steamboat Springs and the surrounding areas is rumored to be out within the next few weeks for those interested in learning more about the great mountain biking trails.  We will be sure to keep you posted!
