Haymaker Golf Course in Steamboat is scheduled to open their greens tomorrow, officially kicking off the summer for Golfers throughout the Yampa Valley. With Steamboat’s penchant for erratic weather, the opening is tentative and will be decided based on the weather. The quick warming of temperatures throughout the valley have allowed much of the snow on the course to melt and the only limitation set as of this point is for golf carts to stay on the concrete paths. With the large amount of people excited to get onto the tees, there will be no tee time scheduling for tomorrow, all availability will be on a first come first serve basis to help keep play at a comfortable, quick pace.
Haymaker is the second course to open in Routt County in the wake of a challenging spring. Steamboat Golf Club, on the west side of town, opened May 6. The Rollingstone Ranch Golf Club plans to open the front nine Monday. Assistant professional John Ostergar said the back nine could open late next week. The opening dates are tentative and could be altered by the weather. Golfers can call to make tee times, but no more than 24 hours in advance. Enjoy the beautiful summer weather!
