For those who have never had the opportunity to visit Steamboat at the end of October, Halloween is celebrated a bit differently. While not a large town in population, the town is geographically very spread-out, making door to door trick-or-treating a bit difficult for many. As a solution Lincoln Ave. closes down from 5-7 and stores downtown replace houses as candy-stops. And everyone comes. Lincoln gets so crowded it becomes difficult to move. Children and adults alike are dressed to the nines, with almost everyone dressed up. My favorite costumes included people dressed as the swine flu, the Geico pile of money and the groups of kids dressed in their cowboy/cowgirl gear. I had a great time just wandering around town, taking in the great costumes, atmosphere and, of-course, candy. Hope yours was equally as enjoyable!
