The Steamboat Springs Balloon Rodeo had another successful year. Steamboat Springs Cham­ber Resort Association officials estimated that about 3,500 people went to the launch field for the 30th annual Hot Air Balloon Rodeo on Saturday morning. A beautiful and fun event in town, you can enjoy the balloons with your morning coffee at your home or you can go to Bald Eagle Lake and stand among the balloons as they inflate. A cool experience, the balloons attempt to complete a few ‘tasks’ in order to get points. One of the tasks was the lake skim, pictured above, where the drivers dunked the bottom of their balloon carriage into the lake.

Afterward, many spectators stopped by the 36th annual Art in the Park, an outdoor festival of arts and crafts by artists from across the country. ‘About 5,000 people were expected to visit the artists and take in live entertainment Saturday at West Lincoln Park.’
