Time to mark your calendars! While the temps are still reaching the upper 80s, the buzz about the upcoming ski season has already started. Fueled by many different events – season ticket prices currently at their cheapest, the big tent sale coming up, and now the first official (to my knowledge) date for a snowboard movie has been scheduled. A different look at life as a snowboarder, the athletes in this film go to new levels to find the perfect lines. Following their journey ‘Deeper’ promises to be one of the most fun movie events of the fall. The Steamboat Grand is hosting the event on October 7th. For those who have never been to a ski/snowboard film before, it is truly a fun event. The yells, screams and excitement from the crowd often make the dialogue a bit difficult to follow, but the atmosphere and the energy get you pump for the upcoming season. Check out the synopsis below for some more information on the film ‘Deeper’
‘From the award winning producers at Teton Gravity Research (TGR), in partnership with Jeremy Jones, comes the most progressive big mountain snowboarding film to date, “DEEPER.” Follow Jeremy and other top freeriders as they travel to the world’s snowboarding meccas and venture past the boundaries of helicopters, snowmobiles, and lifts to explore an untouched realm. Hang on tight as Jeremy Jones faces the biggest challenges he has ever encountered in snowboarding. All night hikes, sleeping on peaks, camping 65 miles from civilization, 20 below temperatures, 10 day storms, and 20 mile days bring the adventure back into riding. Deeper puts the viewer in the athletes’ boots; from the trials to the tribulations, to mind-boggling breakthroughs in the sport of snowboarding.’
If you are interested in traveling a bit outside of Steamboat – Teton Gravity Research is also releasing a 3D film this fall ‘Light the Wick.’ It appears as though the closest 2 venues for now are in Boulder and Denver.
