With the temperatures warming and the Ice Bar at Slopeside Grill opening this week, it appears as though spring is really in the air in Steamboat. Adding to the fun, the resort is extending lift hours this Saturday to help those interested in skiing or snowboarding a few extra runs before hitting the Apres Ski the opportunity. ‘ Ski Corp. spokesman Mike Lane said the ski area has expanded its lift hours for spring dating back to at least 1984, as far back as lift operations records go. Lane said the later lift hours allow skiers and riders to take advantage of the sunshine, which softens the snow, as days get longer into spring.’In Steamboat, we have a lot of west-facing slopes, which is ideal for some late afternoon skiing. If we can’t have the powder, at least we can have the sunshine.’ The extended hours should be great for all those coming out for spring break in March looking to take advantage of the great snow we have had this year on Mt. Werner. Hope to see you out on the mountain soon!
