Buffalo Pass has set a new record. The Snow accumulation for this season is currently sitting at over 200 inches deep, with 72.6 inches of water content. “This exceeds the previous record reading of 71.1 inches of water equivalent measured in 1978.” This snowpack on the pass is about the equivalent of 6 feet of water.” While the weather is beginning to warm in Steamboat, there is still plenty of snow on the mountain and in the backcountry that can be skied. Be careful and be sure to check avalanche conditions before heading out, but enjoy the late season snow in Steamboat!
