Nothing is quite as relaxing as jumping in a tube and just relaxing as you float slowly down the Yampa. Watching Mt. Werner fade away in the distance as you approach downtown, floating down the river is the best thing for a hot day. While the river was flowing hard through the beginning of the summer, nearing now, its pace is now merely crawling. But in a way the slow pace of the Yampa is almost more fitting for the summer, no rush to reach the end. The slow pace doesn’t deter us from getting out in the almost 90 degree day, cooling off as we drift downstream, enjoying the shared sun and comradare of tubing with a group of friends.
