The Annual event features work by Routt County Students. Steamboat Springs puts on almost 400 pieces of art along the walls at the Depot Art Center on Friday. Students from every elementary, middle and high school in Routt County contribute work to the Annual Routt County Youth Art Show, which opens with a free reception from 5 – 8pm on Friday, April 30th, 2010 at the Depot.

The display shows what students and Routt County art teachers have been working on throughout the year. The Arts Council is presenting the display; each school contributed a number of pieces based on its size featuring mediums include photography, watercolor, oil pastels, mixed media, oil, pen and ink, pencil and fiber art. Among the work submitted by school art teachers are collections of photos, a papier-mache slipper, tinfoil sculptures, and ceramic pieces with varying motifs. The show is, for the most part, organized by school, but some areas don’t follow that theme.

At Friday’s reception, the Steamboat Arts & Crafts Gym plans to offer an interactive art activity, and there will be food. The Arts Council has helped present the student art show for more than 20 years. The show will be on display from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday through May 23.
